Research Interests:
Research conducted in the Cognitive Lab covers three broad domains: attention, memory, and language.  Of specific interest is the interplay among these domains.  For example, how does attention modulate performance in different linguistic tasks?  How do factors related to linguistic knowledge affect memory performance? An underlying theme that pervades much of the work in the lab is the role of automatic and controlled processes in cognitive tasks.  In addition, changes in cognitive performance in healthy aging  and in the presence of dementing illnesses, such as dementia of the Alzheimer's type, are examined to increase our understanding of these phenomena.
